Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis
  • Daily pill taken to reduce the risk of HIV transmission
  • Studies show 99% efficacy
  • MUST be HIV negative and have all STI tests done before starting PrEP
  • Should have 3-month follow-ups with provider

Should You Take PrEP?

If you answer YES to any of these questions, PrEP may be right for you:

  • Do you have sex without a condom?
  • Used weed, meth, poppers or other drugs in the last 12 months?
  • Have you had a STD in the last 12 months?
  • Have you taken PEP in the last 12 months?
  • Do you have an HIV positive partner?
  • Do you not know the HIV status of your partner(s)?
  • Do you exchange money or other services for sex?
  • Do you want additional protection from HIV transmission?

WHAT IS PEP?

Post-Exposure Prophylaxis
  • 28-day pill regimen taken AFTER an HIV exposure
  • MUST be taken within 72 hours
  • May go to emergency room to access
